Expect More Arizona: A Partnership Of Individuals And Organizations Passionate About Education
Expect More Arizona is a public-private partnership dedicated to creating a movement of Arizonans who value education as our state’s top priority and are actively engaged in strengthening the entire education continuum – from birth to career.
The Partnership is funded by individuals, organizations and businesses who share a commitment to making education in Arizona the best it can be. An Oversight Board including representatives from organization’s that have contributed $100,000 or more provides strategic direction and fiscal oversight to the Expect More Arizona movement.
Expect More Arizona is the result of the work of the Governor's P-20 Council, created by Executive Order in 2005. The P-20 Council was established to improve and align Arizona’s education systems from early learning through postsecondary education, and ultimately create a pipeline of highly skilled students who graduate ready to compete, contribute and succeed in the 21st Century.
Understanding that a strong education system leads to the development of a more talented workforce and vibrant economy, the Council brought together the education sectors, business and community leaders, and elected officials to develop and implement recommendations to provide systemic improvements at all points in the educational spectrum.
Among the P-20 Council’s recommendations to improve education was the development of a public awareness campaign. The campaign, which is now Expect More Arizona, was developed under the leadership of the P-20 Council Communications Committee.
The P-20 Council, at a regular and noticed meeting on November 13, 2008, in a motion duly made and seconded, and unanimously approved, directed the Committee to enter into an agreement with the Arizona Community Foundation to act as the fiscal agent for this purpose. It also supported the development of the Expect More Arizona Oversight Board, independent of the Council.
